Congratulations to
Daniel Donelson of Nashville, TN, for being the fastest individual
among all Team competitors.
Carolyn Xanders of Nashville was the fastest female. Both have
been given a handcrafted
canoe-shaped keepsake box and a gift certificate for Fleet Feet.
Our final count was 223 participants.
We were able to donate $1500 from the proceeds of the event to the
Regional Intervention Program toward assisting families with their
pre-school children with behavior and development issues. For more
info on this worthwhile charity, see

The new canoe put-in received big
applause. The rope across the river worked out well allowing for a
“competitive” group start. The canoes piled up at the finish so we
expect to cap this race at 250.
A big thanks goes out to the 35
Columbia Cycling Club members who worked hard to make this happen.
This race was also assisted by about 5 Maury County Civil Defense
personnel, 8 Jail Trustees, 15 RIP employees/directors, 15 canoe
rental employees, 8 Boy Scouts, 8 young men from the Tennessee
Children’s Home, and 5 members of the Maury Amateur Radio Club.
I would like to recognize others who
donated toward this event in other ways:
- Doug Shapiro for developing and
getting the donations and work needed for the canoe put-in
- Allen Presnell with Columbia Rock
Products for the donation of rock toward the put-in
- Rick Grief, an Ironman from
Huntsville, for designing the Jailbreak logo
- Extension Staffing (Patrick Wigley)
of Nashville for donating two vans
- YMCA of Columbia for donating two
vans, a bullhorn, and the use of their shower facilities for the mud
covered participants
- Piggly Wiggly (Jody Shaw) of
Columbia for discounting some food items for us
- Bi-Lo, Kroger and Pepsi for donating
food and drinks
- ABBA Graphics of Hohenwald for
donating the brochures
- Donna Heninger for the T-shirt
layout
- Fleet Feet of Brentwood for donating
two $25 gift certificates
We received several nice comments, here
are some of them…
“It was my first time to participate
in a multiple event. I can't wait until next year's event. I hope it
will be as organized and fun as this year's.” Tommy Green,
Dickson, TN
“My brother and I did the Jailbreak
as a relay. We both had a blast. Everything went great and we
thoroughly enjoyed it. Looking forward to next year. Loved it!"
Kyle Traylor, Gurley, AL
